Carriers operating commercial motor vehicles must install and require drivers to use an electronic logging device (ELD) to record duty status, unless the rules allow manual duty-status records in the circumstances they list.<\/p>\n

Under 49 CFR \u00a7 391.51<\/a>, each motor carrier must keep a driver qualification file. The file includes the driver’s employment application and motor vehicle records.<\/p>\n
